# How To Add A "Bid Package Summary" Block To An Estimate Report

A "Bid Package Summary" block puts every bid package on the estimate into the report as one table, with a row per package and a total across them. It is the buyout picture at a glance — how many bids came in, where each package stands, what you estimated it at and what it was awarded for — without the reader opening the "Bid Packages" tab.

To add a "Bid Package Summary" block to an estimate report follow these steps.

Navigate to the desired estimate and select the "Report" tab, then open the report you want to edit.

Press "Add Block" at the top of the "Report Structure" panel on the right.

Find "Bid Package Summary" under the "BID PACKAGES" heading in the block list. It is described as "Bid packages list with totals".

Drag it into the report and drop it on the line where you want it to sit. Blocks are added by dragging, not by clicking.

Press the block in the "Report Structure" panel to open its settings.

Open the "COLUMNS" section to choose which columns the table shows.

The eight available are:

"Bids" — how many bids have been received for the package.

"Status" — where the package has got to in buyout.

"Selected Bidder" — the bidder whose bid has been chosen.

"Estimated Cost" — what the estimate carries for the package before bids.

"Total Submitted" — the total of what bidders submitted.

"Total Adjustments" — the total of the adjustments applied to those bids.

"Awarded Cost" — the cost of the bid that was awarded.

"Overruns" — the difference between the awarded cost and the estimate.

NOTE, a new block starts with "Bids", "Status", "Estimated Cost" and "Awarded Cost" switched on, and the other four off. Switch on whichever of the rest your report needs.

Drag the columns by the handle on their left to change the order they appear in the table.

Open the "LAYOUT" section to set the "Padding" inside the block, the "Margin Bottom" beneath it, and "Page Break After" if this block should be the last thing on its page.

Open the "STYLE" section to set "Stripe Rows", "Header Text Color", "Header Background Color", "Header Font Weight", "Font Size", and the "Border Bottom" width and "Border Color".

The preview on the left updates as you go. The finished table lists each package by code and name, and closes with a "Total" row summing the numeric columns.

NOTE, a package with no bids yet still appears, showing "No Bid Set" in the "Status" column and no awarded figure. The block reports the state of buyout as it stands rather than hiding what has not started.

We recommend keeping this block to the four columns it starts with unless the report is specifically about buyout progress. "Estimated Cost" beside "Awarded Cost" is the comparison most readers are looking for, and every extra column makes that pair harder to find.
