# How To Add A "Map" Block To An Estimate Report
A "Map" block puts your estimate and the comps you benchmarked it against on a map, with a card for each showing its cost. It answers the question a table cannot — where these projects are in relation to one another — which matters when the reader is weighing whether a comp is a fair comparison.
To add a "Map" block to an estimate report follow these steps.
Navigate to the desired estimate and select the "Report" tab, then open the report you want to edit.
Press "Add Block" at the top of the "Report Structure" panel on the right.
Find "Map" under the "MAIN BLOCKS" heading. It is described as "Estimate and comps on a map".
Drag it into the report and drop it on the line where you want it to sit. Blocks are added by dragging, not by clicking.
Press the block in the "Report Structure" panel to open its settings.
Open the "LOCATIONS" section to choose what is plotted.
"Show Estimate" — plots this estimate's own project. On by default.
"Estimate Color" — the colour of the estimate's marker, so it stands apart from the comps.
Under "Comps", every comp on the estimate is listed. Press the eye beside one to hide it, or the colour dot to recolour its marker.
Open the "MAP" section to set how the map itself is drawn.
"Zoom" — nudges the zoom in or out from the level Zebel picks to fit the markers.
"Map Type" — the base map, such as a road map or satellite imagery.
"Marker Labels" — "None" or "Names", which writes each project's name beside its marker.
"Height" — how tall the map is on the page.
Open the "LAYOUT" section to set how the map sits with its cards.
"Map Position" — "Full Width" with the cards beneath, or "Map Left" / "Map Right" with the cards alongside.
"Show Cards" — the cost card for each project. On by default.
"Show Legend" — the key matching marker colours to the estimate and its comps. On by default.
Set the "Padding", "Margin Bottom" and "Page Break After" in the same "LAYOUT" section, and the "Border Bottom" in "STYLE".
NOTE, the cards show each project's cost — the estimate's total cost, and each comp's total direct costs — so the map doubles as a cost comparison rather than only a location plot.
NOTE, a comp with no address on its project record cannot be plotted, so check the project records if a comp you expected is missing from the map.
We recommend "Map Left" or "Map Right" when you have only two or three comps, so the map and the costs are read together, and "Full Width" once there are enough cards that they need the whole page.
