# How To Add A Table To A "Rich Text" Block

The "Rich Text" block lets you write your own content into a report, and that content can include tables. Use one for the things an estimate does not hold as data — a scope inclusions and exclusions list, a set of qualifications, an assumptions summary — laid out in rows and columns beside the tables Zebel builds for you.

To add a table to a "Rich Text" block follow these steps.

Navigate to the desired estimate and select the "Report" tab, then open the report you want to edit.

Add a "Rich Text" block if the report does not already have one, then press it in the "Report Structure" panel to open its editor.

Press the table button in the editor toolbar, below the text formatting controls.

Select "Insert Table".

NOTE, every other option in this menu is greyed out until your cursor is inside a table, because there is nothing yet for them to act on.

A three column by three row table is inserted, with the first row set up as a header row. Type into the first cell.

Press Tab to move to the next cell, filling the table as you go.

The table appears in the report preview as you type.

To change the table's shape, put your cursor in a cell and open the table menu again. Every option is now available.

"Add Row Above", "Add Row Below" and "Delete Row".

"Add Column Left", "Add Column Right" and "Delete Column".

"Toggle Header Row" — turns the top row's header styling on or off.

"Merge / Split Cells" — merges the cells you have selected, or splits one that was merged.

"Delete Table" — removes the whole table.

Drag the border between two column headers to change the column widths.

NOTE, Tab in the last cell of the last row adds a new row, so you can keep typing rather than stopping to insert one.

NOTE, the table is part of the block's content, so the block's "STYLE" settings apply to it. It is not one of the data blocks and does not read anything from the estimate — what you type is what it shows.
