# How To Hide A Bid Without Deleting It

A bid often stops being worth looking at long before you are willing to throw it away — the submission that came in incomplete, the price you know you are not taking, the first of two bids from a bidder who has since sent a revision. Deleting it clears the column, but it also loses what that bidder actually said, and you cannot get it back.

The "Viewing" menu on a bid package is the other answer. Uncheck a bid and its column comes off the page and off everything you export from it, while the bid itself stays exactly where it is, with its pricing, notes, files and tags intact. Tick it again and the column comes back in the position it always had.

To hide a bid follow these steps.

Navigate to the desired estimate and select the "Bid Packages" tab, then choose the package you are working in. Press "Viewing" in the row of buttons above the grid, beside "Sort". It reads "Viewing: All" while every bid in the package is on the page.

The menu lists every bid in the package, each with its own checkbox, the bidder's name and the date the bid was received. The date is there because a package can hold more than one bid from the same bidder, and a list of repeated names would tell you nothing about which row is which.

Uncheck the bid you want off the page. The tick clears as you press it and the change saves on its own — there is no confirmation to give and nothing to save afterwards.

Close the menu. The bid's column has gone, the button now reads "Viewing: 2 of 3" and carries a dot in its corner — the same dot a filter carries anywhere in Zebel while it is narrowing what you can see. The "Low/High Spread" column has been worked out again over the bids that are left, so in the example below it drops from $27,982.68 to $13,991.34.

Press "Export" and choose "Export to CSV" or "Export to Report". Only the bids you are viewing are included, so what you hand over matches what you were reading on the page.

To bring a bid back, open "Viewing" again and tick it. The column returns in its original position, and the spreads go back to counting it.

NOTE, hiding a bid is not deleting it. Nothing about the bid changes — its submitted pricing, adjustments, notes, files and tags are all untouched, and so is its own total. Hiding decides only whether the bid has a column.

NOTE, comparisons between bids follow what you are viewing. Which bid is the low one, which is the high one, the "Low/High Spread", the spread on each row, and any dynamic bid tag that measures a bid against the others are all worked out from the bids on the page. Hide the cheapest of three and the second cheapest becomes the low bid.

NOTE, you cannot hide the bid you have selected, or one you have marked as preferred. Those rows carry a badge in the menu and their checkboxes are disabled — unselect the bid first if you really want it off the page.

NOTE, at least one bid always stays on the page. Once you are down to one, that bid's checkbox is disabled; the bids you have already hidden stay available to tick again.

NOTE, "Viewing" does not appear at all on a package holding a single bid, since there would be nothing it could hide.

NOTE, duplicating an estimate carries the hidden bids across, so the copy opens reading the way the original read.

NOTE, changing what is viewed needs edit access to an unlocked estimate. As a viewer, or on a locked estimate, the menu still opens and shows you which bids are hidden, but the checkboxes cannot be changed.
