# How To "Re-Sync" A Comp's Values

When you add a comp to an estimate, Zebel takes a snapshot of that project record's cost and design values at that moment. The comp keeps those values even if the source record is later updated, so your estimate does not move underneath you. "Re-Sync Values" is how you deliberately pull the newer values in.

To "Re-Sync" a comp's values follow these steps.

1. Navigate to the desired estimate and select the "Budget & Inputs" tab.
2. Find the column for the comp you want to update — comp columns sit to the right of your estimate's "Unit Cost" column, each headed with the project and record name.
3. Press the "three dot" menu at the top of that comp's column.
4. Select "Re-sync Values". NOTE, this option is unavailable if the estimate is not editable.![](https://lp.zebel.io/hs-fs/hubfs/resync-01-menu-png-1.png?width=1440&height=900&name=resync-01-menu-png-1.png)
5. Choose what to pull in. Both boxes are ticked by default.

- **"Sync cost data"** — refreshes the comp's cost values from the source record.
- **"Sync design data"** — refreshes the comp's design values from the source record.

You must leave at least one ticked; clearing both will not submit.

6\. Read the warning. Re-syncing overwrites the comp's snapshotted values with the current values from the source record, and there is no way to undo it. Your estimate-side edits — the premium and the enable toggles — are kept.

7\. Tick "I understand this will change the comp's values and can't be undone". The re-sync will not run until you do. ![](https://lp.zebel.io/hs-fs/hubfs/resync-03-confirmed-png.png?width=1440&height=900&name=resync-03-confirmed-png.png)

8\. Press the "Re-sync" button.

9\. The dialog closes and the comp's column refreshes in place with the values from the source record.

Please note that re-syncing affects only the one comp you chose. If several comps are out of date, repeat the steps for each — there is no bulk re-sync.
