# How To Read The "Monthly Cash Flow" On GCs/GRs

The "Monthly Cash Flow" row along the bottom of your GCs/GRs schedule shows what your general conditions cost in each month of the job, rather than as one lump sum. It updates as you spread each item across the months, so you can see the shape of the spend as well as the total.

To read the "Monthly Cash Flow" follow these steps.

Navigate to the desired estimate and select the "GCs/GRs" tab.

The schedule shows your milestones across the top and your cost items underneath, with one column per month of the job.

Each cost item carries a "$/Mo" — what it costs for a full month — and a "Burden" percentage on top of it. In the example "Paving" is $5,000.00 a month with 10% burden, so a full month of it costs $5,500.00.

Under each month, set the percentage of that item you are carrying in that month. 100% is a full month, 50% is half a month, and an empty cell is nothing at all.

Read the "Monthly Cash Flow" row at the bottom. Each month shows the total of every item running in it, and the figure at the left is the whole schedule.

In the example "Paving" runs at 100% for months 1 to 6, so each of those months reads $5,500.00 and the schedule totals $33,000.00.

Change an allocation and the row moves with it. Setting month 7 to 50% adds half a month — $2,750.00 — and the total becomes $35,750.00.

NOTE, the months an item is allocated to do not have to match the milestone bars above; the bars are there to show you the schedule you are spreading against.

Press the "Export" button in the upper right corner to take the schedule, including the cash flow, out of Zebel.

Please note that the "Monthly Cash Flow" only counts what you have allocated. An item with a "$/Mo" but no months filled in contributes nothing, which is the usual reason a schedule totals less than expected — check for items whose month cells are empty.
