# How To Save A Comparison Layout To Comparison Templates
A comparison layout is the set of parameters down the left of a comparison — the design fields and cost fields you are comparing records on, in the order you arranged them. Saving that layout as a template lets you reuse the same set on another comparison instead of adding the parameters one at a time.
To save a comparison layout to comparison templates follow these steps.
Navigate to the "Compare" button located at the horizontal top menu options, and select the desired comparison.
Arrange the parameters you want to keep. The layout is saved exactly as it appears, including the order of the rows.
Press the "three dot" menu located at the top of the first column, beside the layout name.
Select "Save as Layout Template".
Type a name into the "Label" field. It is pre-filled with the current layout's name, so give it a name you will recognize in a list — the template is saved for the whole company, not just this comparison.
Press the "Save" button.
Your template is now available to every comparison. It is also listed under "Settings" \> "Compare Layouts", where it can be renamed or deleted.
NOTE, saving as a template copies the layout. The comparison you saved it from keeps its own name and parameters, and later edits to that comparison do not change the saved template.
How To Load A Saved Comparison Template
To load a saved comparison template into another comparison follow these steps.
Navigate to the comparison you want to apply the template to.
Press the "three dot" menu located at the top of the first column.
Select "Load Parameters from Saved Layout".
Choose the desired template from the "Parameter Layout" dropdown.
Press the "Save" button.
NOTE, loading a template replaces the parameters already on that comparison rather than adding to them, and the column takes the template's name. In the example above the comparison went from the 17 "CSI 16 Divisions" parameters to the 9 parameters of "Hospital Benchmark Set". Any parameter you had added by hand and have not saved elsewhere will be gone, so save the existing layout as its own template first if you want to come back to it.
We recommend building one template per project type you estimate regularly — the parameters that matter on a hospital are rarely the ones that matter on a warehouse — and naming them after the project type so the dropdown reads clearly.
