# How To Set A "Unit Cost Formula"

To set a "**Unit Cost Formula**" for either "**Cost Field**" level estimating AND/OR "**Detail Row**" level estimating in your template(s) follow these steps.

1\. Navigate to global "**Settings**" button located at the horizontal top menu options.

2\. Once in settings, navigate to the "**Configuration**" section located on the left vertical menu.

3\. Select "**Record Templates**".

4\. Select the template which you wish to modify.

5\. Select the "**WBS**" tab.

6\. Navigate to the "**Actions**" column which is located to the far right.

7\. Click the "**3 Dot**" button for the desired "**Cost Field**" or "**Detail Row**".

8\. Select the "**Edit Unit Cost Formula**" option.

9\. Enter the desired formula. Formula can be as simple as a numerical value or a unit cost formula that's part of your "**Input**" panel.

Please note that the formulas could be simple values such as " **= 20** " or reference an object that's part of your "**Input**" panel. For example, a design data field such as "Concrete Slab $/SF" could be generated, added to the "**Input**" panel and the corresponding value can be linked to this "Concrete Slab $/SF".
