# How To Show Each Row's "% Of Total Estimate Cost"

The "% of Total Estimate Cost" column shows what share of the whole estimate each row accounts for, so you can see at a glance which scopes are carrying the budget without exporting anything or working it out by hand.

To show the "% of Total Estimate Cost" column follow these steps.

Navigate to the desired estimate and select the "Budget & Inputs" tab.

Press the "Columns" button near the upper right corner.

Under "Cost Items", tick "% of Total Estimate Cost".

NOTE, there are two percentage columns and they answer different questions — "% of Total Direct Cost" measures a row against the direct costs only, while "% of Total Estimate Cost" measures it against the whole estimate, indirect costs included.

Close the panel. The column appears in the table, and every row carries its share — cost bucket groups, buckets, cost fields, detail rows and indirect costs alike.

Press "Expand All" if you want to see the percentages break down through the hierarchy. A bucket's percentage is the sum of the rows beneath it.

Please note that the column is part of your saved column layout, so once you have turned it on it stays on for that view the next time you open the estimate. Untick it in the same "Columns" panel to hide it again.
