# How To Tag Bids In A Bid Package

Bid tags let you record your own judgement about each bid — where it sits in your process, how its pricing looks, how much risk it carries — alongside the numbers the bidder gave you. You define the groups once on the estimate, and every bid in every package can then be tagged from the package itself.

To tag bids follow these steps.

Navigate to the desired estimate and select the "Bid Packages" tab.

Select "Bid Tags" from the menu on the left. This is where the tag groups for this estimate are managed.

Press "Add Tag Group" to create one. Give it a "Group Label" — such as "Bid Status", "Pricing" or "Risk Level" — then add the values it can take, each with a color, and save.

Return to a bid package. When you add a bid, every tag group appears in the "Create New Bid" dialog, so you can tag it as you go.

To tag a bid that already exists, find the "Bid Tags" section beneath the bid's summary in the package. Each group has a row, and each bid a cell.

Press the cell where a bid meets a tag group and choose a value. The change saves as you make it.

NOTE, bid tag groups belong to the estimate, so every bid package in that estimate shares the same groups. A bid takes one value from each.

NOTE, an untagged bid shows "None" rather than an empty cell, so you can see at a glance which bids you have not yet reviewed.

NOTE, contacts carry their own separate tags, set up in the "Directory" — see "How To Use Tags To Organize Your Contacts". The number beside a bidder's name on their bid is their contact tag count, not their bid tags.

NOTE, you can set tag groups up on a record template, and every estimate created from it starts with them already in place.
