# How To Use "Export to Report"

"Export to Report" has taken the place of the old "Export to PDF" option. Instead of producing a finished file straight away, it creates a new estimate report already built from the view you were looking at, and opens it in the report editor. From there you can add to it, restyle it and then export — so the same export now produces something you can shape rather than a fixed document.

To export a view to a report follow these steps.

Navigate to the view you want to export — the "Budget & Inputs" tab, a budget view, "GCs/GRs", a bid package, or any analytics page.

Press the "Export" button above the table.

Select "Export to Report" from the menu.

NOTE, "Export to CSV" is still there for a plain data extract; "Export to Report" is the option that replaces the old PDF export.

Type a "Name" for the report, and a "Description" if you want one.

The description is optional.

Press "Generate".

The new report opens in the report editor. It arrives already containing a cover page and a block built from the view you exported, so it is a working report rather than a blank one.

Add, remove or restyle blocks as you would in any report, then use the report's own export when you are ready to send it out.

NOTE, the report is a new, saved report on the estimate — not a one-off download. It appears in the "Report" tab alongside your other reports, and you can come back to it, change it and re-export it as often as you like.

NOTE, exporting to a report creates something, so it is available to editors only. A viewer sees "Export to CSV" but not "Export to Report".

NOTE, the comparison pages still offer "Export to PDF" rather than "Export to Report", since a comparison is not part of an estimate report.

We recommend giving the report a name that says what it is for rather than what it came from — "Owner Update — March" is easier to find later than "Detailed Budget Export", especially once you have added blocks that were not in the original view.
