# How To Visualize Your Input Formulas

Some of your inputs are typed in and others are worked out from the ones around them. The "Formula Visualizer" draws that as a map, so you can see at a glance which fields feed which — useful before you change a number and want to know what else moves.

To visualize your input formulas follow these steps.

Navigate to the desired estimate and select the "Budget & Inputs" tab.

Press the "three dot" menu at the top right of the "Inputs" sidebar.

Select "Visualize Formulas". The map opens across the page.

Read the map. Each box is one design field, with its group underneath it — "Area", "Rooms", "Concrete", "Retail". An arrow runs from a field into any formula that uses it.

Follow the arrows to see what depends on what. In the example "Common Area Open SF (Total)" and "Corridor SF" both point at "Efficiency", so "Efficiency" is worked out from those two; "Operating Rooms" points at "Staff Lunch Rooms".

NOTE, a field with no arrows leaving it is not used by any formula, and a field with no arrows arriving is one you type in yourself.

Use the "+" and "−" buttons at the bottom left to zoom, the button below them to fit the whole map back on screen, and drag the background to move around. The small panel in the bottom right corner shows where you are in the map.

Press the "X" in the top right corner to close the map and go back to your budget.

Please note that the map shows how your inputs are wired together, not what they are worth — the values themselves stay in the "Inputs" sidebar. It is worth opening before you edit a field that several others are built on, so you know what you are about to move.
